HELISTAR LOCALS DAY

Helistar Helicopters is holding its 2nd annual Locals Day on Saturday 21st March 2009.

Bring the whole family out for a day of live music, great food & excitement. Enjoy $30 rides over the Huka Falls and all kids that fly on the day go into a draw to win one of 3 rhelicopter rides to school.

This year we were overwhelmed by organisations tendering for funds we had to choose 2, the worthy recipients this year are:

BIKE TAUPO - a cycling advocacy group formalised to create a community representaion for Taupo cyclists, encouraging the use of cycle for transportation and recreation and working for improved conditions and image of cyclists & cycling.

Funds will be used to purchase materials to build 2 toilets and an information shelter in the car park at Craters of the Moon. Pete Masters Works co-ordinator for Bike Taupo says " the need for toilets & a better information area has come from the huge increase in numbers of mountain bikers that are now using the park"

AND

The SHINE Programme - an 8 week personal development programme written by Hillsong in Australia to help girls tackle the issues of self esteen, value & self worth. In NZ the SHINE programme has been run for 2 years by Tauranga Police & schools in the area. Alicia Kant Chaplain for Taupo nui a Tia College explains " following the success of Shine in Tauranga we believe that here in Taupo Shine can have a positive impact on our Community"
